future educator project

This project is intended to answer the urgent call for rural education improvement in China. The outstanding Government-Sponsored Scholarship Program graduates having sense of mission and active attitude who choose to go back to the grass-root schools will be selected with platform set up to help them at the beginning of two-year teaching practice, also with opportunities of training, interchange and demonstration. By doing so, the Project makes sure members keep passion on education and keep learning and progressing while fulfill their responsibilities in local schools. The project members get their characters built in tough environments, grasp methods to carry out quality education and connect with other young teachers to form learning groups. They will contribute to rural education sustainably.

Recruitment

Project members will be recruited following strict procedures from outstanding Government-sponsored Scholarship Program graduates who sign on as teachers in the rural schools (at or below county level) for at least two years. After submitting online applications, applicants can get pre-admission opportunities by taking written test and two telephone interviews. Those who get pre-admissions are requested to attend monthly online seminars, book clubs and other activities for further assessment before final admission. The project aims to select grass-root teachers with sense of mission and willing to learn and progress sustainably.

Pre-job Training

Prior to the beginning of teaching, project members will participate in a one-month training session to understand the current situation of education in China’s rural areas, to learn advanced education concepts at home and abroad and to lay a solid foundation in basic teaching skills. Furthermore, project members will learn about self recognition, ability cultivation, career planning and so on, which can help them adapt to rural teaching practice as well as achieve self-improvement.

Team and Working Platform

At the beginning of two-year teaching practice, the Project will assist the members to build team and set up communication platform so they can support each other. In addition, an external communication platform is going to help them get connected and informed, on which they can also demonstrate their abilities while fulfilling their responsibilities in local schools.

Training and Support

During the two-year period, the Project members will have online exchange platform, cost saving travels, training online or in other areas, all of which can broaden their visions, improve their teaching skills and abilities. They are also provided with opportunities to demonstrate themselves to the outside world. There will be 3 unified training. Exceptional frontier teachers will provide one-on-one instructions to them. Appropriate local charity resources will be introduced. The project members are encouraged to carry out education improvement in the communities or in the schools. Field visits will be paid periodically by staff from TFC headquarters to learn about the work situation and needs of project members in order to support them continuously.

Alumni Association

The ex-members of the project form the Alumni Association and participate in various activities together with the new members to make sure the project’s continuous influence and  sustainable support for all members. As a result, to expand the team consisting of people who cherish the same ideals.
